Information for STA347 Final Exam
The final examination will be on Tuesday December 16th, 9am - 12 noon, in Room 263NE. I believe that means the North Building. It's 100 points, based on assignments 2 through 11. It's closed book. You may bring a calculator, but you will not need it. A Formula Sheet will be supplied.
There will be 60 points on Markov chains, and 40 points on Poisson processes. For the makeup test, someone asked if there would be proofs, and I said not really. For the final exam, the answer to that question is "Yes, definitely!"
Looking over the exam, I see that at several points, a proof will be a lot easier if you use something you have already been asked to prove. To do this, you do not need to have the earlier proof completely correct. Just use what you were supposed to prove.
If you can do the assignments, you will do very well on this exam.
