Road Map   The objective of this course is to give you some useful tools for applied work in Statistics. The unifying theme is what happens and what you can learn as the number of observations increases. Here is a tentative list of topics.

• A little large sample theory
• Numerical likelihood tools
• Logistic regression
• Generalized linear models
• Power and sample size
  • Non-central chisquare and F distributions
  • Normal linear models
  • Large sample tests
  • Power by simulation
• Weighted least squares
• Monte Carlo integration
• Simulation as a way to investigate statistical methods
• Example: Regression and measurement error

Marking  Marks will be assigned based on weekly (or almost weekly) homework assignments, and class participation.

Text  There is no official text book for this course. As a substitute, a variety of free online documents will be available from the course website.
