I am working as an assistant professor (nontenure track)
of statistics in the
Department of Computer and Mathematical Sciences at the
University of Toronto Scarborough. I have received my PhD in statistics with a
specialization in statistical learning and data mining from the
Department of Statistics,
The University of British Columbia, Vancouver in 2013.
My MSc is in statistics which I have obtained from the
Department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Windsor in 2007.
Before moving to Canada, I have obtained my BSc (Honours) and MSc (both) in statistics from the
University of Dhaka, Dhaka-1000, Bangladesh.
Research
My research interest is in statistical learning.
The specific focus of my research is in developing ensemble of models to improve its prediction performance
by employing the richness of useful variables in high-dimensional data and
identifying important models and variables reflecting relationships used
to answer research questions. The spectrum of my research encompasses
big data, data science, machine learning, data mining and computational statistics.
My other active research focus is in bayesian statistical inference and ecological modelling.
The applications to which I am currently active are: drug discovery, protein homology and medical & health data analysis.
The list of my research interests (active or dormant) are: big data, data science, statistical/machine learning,
data mining, bayesian statistical inference, analysis of longitudinal and event history data, computational
statistics, statistical ecology, drug discovery, protein homology, medical and health data analysis.

Statistical Computation
I have professional expertise in statistical computation.
During leisure time, I find enormous pleasure by writing codes
to solve various statistical/mathematical problems using programming languages and softwares.
Parallel Computation:
To analyze high-dimensional data, I am extensively using parallel computation.
The computations in my recent research articles have been completed through
parallel execution of R & C codes in the western Canada research grid (westgrid) servers.
Programming Languages:
R and C/C++ are my all-time companion. ForTran and S-plus
are used in my past research. I taught ForTran and S-plus in the undergraduate level at the University of Dhaka.
Statistical Packages:
SPSS and SAS are used in my past research. I taught SPSS and SAS in the
undergraduate level at the University of Dhaka. Furthermore, I taught SPSS
in the SPSS Training Program
at the University of Dhaka.
