Text John E. Freund's Mathematical statistics with applications (7th Edition) by I. Miller and M. Miller.
Topics Moment-generating functions, Limiting Distributions and the Central Limit Theorem, Point estimation (with extra material on consistency), Interval estimation, Theory of hypothesis testing, Standard tests for means, variances and proportions, and possibly Nonparametric tests if time permits. Essentially this means Section 7,5, Chapters 10-13 and 16 from the text, plus a bit of supplemental material.
Grading
The Academic Regulations of the University are outlined in the Code of Behaviour on Academic matters, which can be found in the UTM Calendar or on the web at http://www.utm.utoronto.ca/regcal/WEBGEN117.html . The latest version of the student handout "How not to Plagiarize" is available at http://www.utoronto.ca/writing/plagsep.html. However, it's not too relevant because the mark in this course is based entirely on in-class quizzes, tests and the final exam.
