STA220F: Statistics, Summer 2005
University of Toronto at Mississauga
http://www.utm.toronto.edu/~jbrunner/220Sum05
Lecture:
Tutorials: Monday and Wednesday in Room 3093, South Building. Tutorials start Wednesday, May 18.
Text: Statistics (10th Edition) by McClave and Sincich. Can you get by with the 9th edition? Maybe, but the problems have changed. If you photocopy the problems from the 10th edition and you can do the homework correctly, you should be okay.
Topics: Descriptive statistics and graphs, Probability, Discrete random variables, Continuous random variables, Sampling distributions, Estimation, Confidence intervals, Hypothesis tests for one and two samples. If time permits, chi-square tests for categorical data. That is, we are doing chapters 1-9 and maybe Chapter 13.
Grading:
Missed work: There will be no makeups for the quiz or midterm test. If you miss the quiz or midterm for a serious medical reason, your physician must complete a Medical Certificate; a note is not sufficient. A copy of the Medical Certificate form is available at http://www.utoronto.ca/health/forms/medcert.pdf.
The academic regulations of the university are given in the Code of Behaviour on Academic Matters, which can be found in the UTM calendar or on the Web at
