University of Toronto at Mississauga

Lecture:
Tutorials: Monday and Wednesday,
Text: Statistics (9th Edition) by McClave and Sincich. At least one copy is in the short term loan section at the library, as well as at the bookstore.
Software: Minitab, available in computer labs. A copy of the Student version (all you need for this class) is in the library in the short term loan section. You can take it home and install it.
Topics: Chapters 1-9, going lightly over Chapters 3 and 4, and skipping most sections marked optional. If time permits, Chapter 13.
Grading: There will be 5 quizzes, all given on Wednesdays during the lecture period. They will count 10% each. Quiz dates are May 26, and June 2, 9, 16, 23. Homework assignments are in preparation for the quiz. Handwritten homework is not to be handed in, but computer portions of the homework may be handed in, so bring printouts to quizzes (starting with Quiz 2). There will be a comprehensive final exam worth 50% of the mark.
No extensions or makeups will be given for any work in this class. This means, for example, that if a quiz is given at the beginning of a period and you arrive late, you get a zero. In particular, automotive breakdown is not a valid excuse. If you miss a quiz because of a documented medical emergency, your final exam will count for the missed quiz.
